Prairie Seeds Academy, a charter school in Brooklyn Park, moved up to play in Class AA boys soccer this season. The Lycans returned Tuesday night to the field where their season ended last fall with a brawl against Totino-Grace to face host Maple Grove in the Section 5AA championship game.
After a scoreless first half, Charles Huberty scored on a header off a corner kick about five minutes into the second half to give Prairie Seeds a 1-0 lead.
Darwin Campoverde added an insurance goal on a rebound of Mualigbe Keita's shot, sending the Lycans to the state tournament.
Prairie Seeds was Class A champion in 2010 and runnerup in 2011 before being disqualified from playing in the tournament because of the use of an ineligible player last season.
